This educational deck was ordered by Cardinal Mazarin (1602-1661) for Louis XIV, this deck should help Paul Philippe Hardouin de Péréfix de Beaumont (later archbishop of Paris), since 1644 Masters Louis XIV, to help in the instruction of the 6- Boy of one year each of the 4 floors had a letter of the title in which is indicated as an editor Henry le Gras, Paris.
An edition in the form of a book was published in 1698 by J. Covens & C. Mortier in Amsterdam. The cards were copied again and again and appeared later as editions with costumes.
